West Virginia NCAA Odds
Already taken to a new level under former player and current head coach Bob Huggins, West Virginia is now setting its sights on the biggest prize in college basketball.
Huggins is leading the Mountaineers to their third straight NCAA Tournament appearance this year in his third season as head coach. West Virginia, with a 26-6 record and a 13-5 mark in the Big East, has earned a No. 7 ranking in the polls and is seeking its first Final Four appearance since 1959.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have given West Virginia 18/1 odds to win the NCAA Tournament and the Mountaineers opened with 3/1 odds to win the Big East Tournament, as they face Georgetown in the title game tonight.
Winners of five straight and seven of their last eight, West Virginia has five wins over ranked opponents and the Mountaineers have lost no more than two straight games this season.
Known for being an aggressive defense, WVU is second in the Big East in scoring defense, allowing just 64 points per-game. They are also second in rebounding margin at +6.6 as they allow the second fewest rebounds in the conference. The Mountaineers also have a assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.3, which is fourth best in the Big East.
WVU has been led by DaβSean Butler, a forward that averages 17.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per-game. Forward Kevin Jones adds 13.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per-contest while Devin Ebanks, another forward, averages 12.2 points and 8.2 rebounds per-game.
