Georgetown Odds
After missing out on the NCAA Tournament a year ago, the Georgetown Hoyas are looking to make a big splash this season.
After three-straight years with at least one win in the NCAA Tournament, the Hoyas failed to make the big dance for just the second time under coach John Thompson III last year. This season, the Hoyas are 23-9 overall and 10-8 in the Big East. Tonight, the Hoyas play for the Big East Tournament Championship against West Virginia.
Oddsmakers from online sports book BroburySports.com have given Georgetown 25/1 odds to win the NCAA Tournament and the Hoyas opened at 8/1 favorites to win the Big East Tournament.
Currently ranked No. 22 in the country, Georgetown has been streaky all year. After winning their first eight games of the season, the Hoyas havenβt been able to put together a winning streak of more than three games the rest of the way. The Hoyas lost four of their last six games to end the regular season but have run through South Florida, Syracuse, and Marquette during the Big East Tournament.
Georgetown has an amazing field goal percentage of .500 through 32 games this season, which ranks second in the Big East. The Hoyas also shoot .392 from behind the 3-point arc, which is third in the Big East. The Hoyas also allow the fewest rebounds in the Big East at 30.9 per-game.
Individually, the Hoyas are led by the duo of guard Austin Freeman and center Greg Monroe. Freeman averages 16.8 points and 2.5 assists per-game while shooting 53 percent from the field and 45 percent from 3-point land. Monroe is posting averages of 16.2 points and 9.7 rebounds per-game while also blocking 1.5 shots and dishing out 3.7 assists. He shoots 52 percent from the field. Chris Wright also contributes 14.7 points per-game for the Hoyas.
