A-10 Tournament Odds
The 2010 Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament begins Tuesday from campus sites before heading to Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. to crown its champion on Sunday.
Four teams have received byes into the quarterfinals, leaving the other eight teams to play first round games on Tuesday to move on to this weekend’s quarterfinals.
The two-time defending tournament champions and 2009-10 regular season champions, Temple, have been picked as the favorites to win the tournament.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com have given Temple 3/2 odds to win the tournament. Other short odds to win are Xavier (7/4), Richmond (5/1), and St. Louis (13/2).
Temple has won eight tournament titles, most of any school in the Atlantic 10. The Owls are currently ranked 20th and have a 26-5 overall record with a 14-2 mark in conference play. Temple holds a win over Villanova this year and has had conference losses to Richmond and Charlottte. The Owls have won their last seven games.
Xavier is a four-time Atlantic 10 Tournament winner, with the last coming in 2006. Currently ranked 25th in the country, the Musketeers are 23-7 on the year and 14-2 in conference play, earning the No. 2 seed for this tournament. Xavier lost its only meeting with Temple and also lost to Dayton. Xavier has won its last seven games as well.
Richmond has never won the A-10 Tournament. The Spiders are 24-7 on the year and 13-3 in conference play. They will be the third seed in the tournament. Richmond holds two wins over ranked opponents, including a 71-54 win over Temple on Feb. 6. The Spiders have lost to Charlotte, Xavier, and St. Louis. The Spiders have won 10 of their last 11 games.
St. Louis has never won the A-10 Tournament or even played in the finals of the tournament. The Billikens are 20-10 this season and 11-5 in the A-10, earning the fourth seed in the tournament. St. Louis has lost two of its last four, with the losses coming against Xavier and Temple.
