Wednesday Cross-Sport Parlay: Cavs, Canes, Bobcats &

Wednesday Cross-Sport Parlay Wednesday Cross-Sport Parlay

Is 13 too much to lay with the Cavaliers? Will the Hurricanes score at least four goals for a remarkable 12 times in their last 13 games? Will the Bobcats’ offense stay hot in MACtion? Read on for our Wednesday Cross-Sport Parlay.

Wednesday’s Cross-Sport Parlay: Cleveland Cavaliers -13.5, 7:30 p.m. ET (-108)

I know, I know – this is a big number. Have you seen Cleveland play this season? Have you seen New Orleans? Enough said.

The Cavs lost their first game of the season last night to the Celtics, 120-117. However, Cleveland was a 7-point underdog and while the Cavs went into halftime down 17, they emerged as a beast in the second half. They found themselves down just five in the fourth quarter before falling by three. Still, they cashed. Now they’re 12-4 against the number this season.

As for the Pelicans, they look like they’re barely trying. They’re 4-11 straight up and 4-11 against the spread. While they did cover in two of their previous three games, they’re also coming off a contest in which they surrendered 132 points to Dallas as a 13-point road underdog. If the Mavs can cover 13, so can the Cavs.

Wednesday’s Cross-Sport Parlay: Carolina Hurricanes over 3.5 (-130), 7:30 p.m. ET

No team has a higher return on investment for team totals this season than the Carolina Hurricanes. They’re 14-3 to the over, which has resulted in a 54.96% over ROI in 2024. Over their last 12 games, the ‘Canes have scored fewer than four goals only once: a 4-1 loss at Utah on November 13. In the rest of their 11 games over that span, Carolina scored at least four goals. That’s remarkable.

Granted, the Flyers have been stingy of late. They’ve allowed more than three goals only three times in their last 10 games. That said, the Hurricanes scored 6, 3 and 4 goals versus the Flyers in the last three meetings between these two teams. At this price, it’s worth rolling the dice to see if Carolina can be the team that tests Philly’s goal prevention.

Wednesday’s Cross-Sport Parlay: Ohio Bobcats over 23.5 (-108), 7:00 p.m. ET

Ohio travels to the Glass Bowl to take on Toledo in an important MACtion matchup tonight. The Bobcats have been on a roll offensively. In their last three games, they scored 47 points versus Buffalo, 41 at Kent State and 35 versus Eastern Michigan, respectively.

Over its last three games, Toledo surrendered 10 points versus Central Michigan, 28 to Eastern Michigan and 41 to Bowling Green. It’s worth noting that the Chippewas are down to their third string quarterback – a freshman – so their 10-point output wasn’t surprising given the circumstances. I believe the Bobcats can get their offense fired up again tonight.

Wednesday’s Cross-Sport Parlay: Illinois Fighting Illini +8.5 (-110), 9:00 p.m. ET

Perhaps I’m falling into the oddsmakers’ trap, but give me Illinois with the points. The Illini have won nine out of their last 10 games overall and are 7-3 against the spread during that span. They have yet to be tested this season, but they also covered two big numbers in their three games this season. Illinois cashed as a 25.5-point favorite against Eastern Illinois in its season opener, then covered as a 27.5-point fave versus SIUE in its second game. (The Illini failed to cover as 23.5-point favorites against Oakland in their 66-54 victory).

As for ‘Bama, the Crimson Tide are 3-1 on the season but just lost at Purdue, 87-78. They were favored by four in that matchup and have now failed to cover in three out of their four games to start the season. I’m not overlooking or underrating ‘Bama. I just believe this is too many points to spot a competitive U of I squad.
