Thunder drop two straight
The Thunder blew a lead on the road against Houston on Christmas, suffered a 113-109 loss for their second straight defeat. OKC is now 21-12 on the season, 9-8 on the road, 18-15 against the spread and 17-16 with the under.
Oklahoma City has been pretty strong on defense most of the season, allowing 105.8 points per game on the year. Offensively, the Thunder are putting up 111.9 points per game despite shooting just 32.7 percent from the arc. Paul George is questionable for tonight’s game due to a quad injury. He leads the team in scoring with 26.3 points per game while also adding 8.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists per contest. Russell Westbrook is averaging 20.2 points, 10.7 rebounds and 10.2 assists per game.
Suns on a cover streak
The Suns are coming off a 122-120 OT win at Orlando on Wednesday for their fifth win in seven games. Phoenix has covered the spread in all seven games during this stretch. The Suns are 9-26 on the season, 5-11 at home, 16-19 against the spread and 20-15 with the under.
Phoenix averages just 105.1 points per game this season while giving up 113.6 per game. However, they have put up 122 points per game over their last five games. The team is largely healthy, as only Jamal Crawford is questionable to play due to a knee injury. Devin Booker has been leading the team this year with 25.2 points and 7.0 assists per game while rookie Deandre Ayton is adding 16.3 points and 10.9 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Oklahoma City
The Thunder are just 2-5 against the spread in their last seven road games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven conference games.
Phoenix
The Suns have covered four straight on 1 day of rest, but are just 3-8 ATS in their last 11 Friday games.
Prediction:
The Suns are one of the hottest teams in the NBA right now and I am going to ride the hot team. The Suns have been a different team with Booker on the floor, as he has the ability to put up big points each night. OKC has more talent overall, but the Thunder haven’t been terribly reliable on the road and could potentially be without Paul George, forcing them into their old ways of needing Westbrook to do everything.
NBA Prediction: Phoenix Suns +6
