Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BetNow.eu, the Raptors are 3.5-point favorites to beat the Heat. The total, meanwhile, sits at 210 points and as of this writing, 65% of the public betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Raptors to cover the point spread.
Toronto Raptors Fantasy Spin
Coach Nick Nurse said prior to Saturday’s game that he thinks Kawhi Leonard will start playing full back-to-backs come January. “I think we are there,” Nurse said. “I think, after we get here to the new year, we’ll be there. No promises, but I think we’re there.” We’ve seen this movie before with Leonard, who sat out Saturday’s second leg of a back-to-back for load management. This might be the most confident Nurse has been in this conversation, but until Kawhi actually plays both legs of a back-to-back set, it will just talk. His first chance will be the weekend of Jan. 5 and 6, which is the first of the Raptors’ three back-to-backs of the month.
Miami Heat Fantasy Spin
Dion Waiters (foot) won’t play on Wednesday vs. the Raptors. Waiters recently got through a full practice with the Heat, but he’ll need to go through a few more before he’s cleared to return. He’s close, but we don’t anticipate him being much of a factor in fantasy hoops.
NBA Betting Trends
Toronto
The under is 5-2 in the Raptors’ last seven conference games and 5-1 in their last six games coming off a loss.
Miami
The under is 5-0 in the Heat’s last five home games and is 9-3 in their last 12 games overall.
Prediction
The Raptors have been a poor bet in this series. They’re just 1-4 against the spread in their last five trips to Miami and are winless at the betting window in their last five games versus the Heat overall. Toronto is also 2-5 against the spread in its last seven road games and 1-4 ATS in tits last five games overall. On the other side, the Heat are a perfect 5-0 against the spread in their last five games overall and are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games.
