Spurs thriving as road favorites
Tonight at 8:00PM ET the Spurs will take on the Rockets in Houston for one of the five Christmas games on the NBA schedule.
San Antonio, which is 25-5 straight up this season and 21-9 against the spread, is currently a 7-point road favorite versus Houston according to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI. The Spurs opened as a 6.5-point favorite but the line has climbed a half point with 75% of public bettors currently backing San Antonio at the betting window.
It’s not surprising to know that the Spurs have been a fantastic road favorite this season given the fact that they’ve covered the spread in 70% of all games this season. They’re 9-4 at the betting window as a road fave in 2015, winning by an average margin of 12.1 points in those games. They’re also covering the spread at +5.7 clip in those situations.
As for the Rockets, they’ve only been a home underdog three times this season and they covered the number in two of those three contests. In those games, they’ve lost by an average margin of just -1.7, but they’re 6-10 against the spread in their 16 home games overall this season.
