Philly rolling
The 76ers are coming off a 116-109 win over New Orleans on Friday night. They have won five straight games while going 3-0-2 against the spread. Philly is 20-7 on the season, 6-7 on the road, 12-12-3 against the spread and 14-12-1 with the under.
Philadelphia is one of the stronger defensive teams in the league this year, allowing just 103.9 points per game while opponents shoot 45.3 percent against them. Offensively, Philadelphia is putting up 110.1 points per game while shooting 47.7 as a team and 37 percent from the arc. Al Horford is listed as questionable for today’s game due to a hamstring injury. He has missed the last two games. Horford is averaging 13.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. Joel Embiid is leading the team this year with 22.8 points, 12.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per contest.
Nets drop two straight
Brooklyn has lost back-to-back games to the Hornets and Raptors this week, failing to cover in both games. The Nets are 13-12 on the season, 7-5 at home, 13-12 against the spread and 13-11-1 with the under.
The Nets are putting up 112 points per game this season while shooting 44.9 percent from the field. Defensively, Brooklyn is giving up 112.8 points per game while holding opponents to 43.9 percent shooting against them. The Nets are banged-up, as they are without Kyrie Irving and Caris LeVert right now due to injury. Spencer Dinwiddie is leading the team with 20.9 points and 6.2 assists per game while Jarrett Allen is adding 12.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Philadelphia
The 76ers are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight Sunday games, but 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games.
Brooklyn
The Nets are 9-4 against the spread in their last 13 Sunday games, but 5-12 ATS in their last 17 games on no rest.
Prediction:
These two haven’t met this season as of yet. Philly won the last four against the Nets last season and I like them to win and cover today. The Nets played last night in Toronto and had to travel back home for this one. Already without key players, the Nets are going to be a little leg weary today against a Philadelphia team that plays physical on defense and has a lot of scoring options even if Horford is unable to play. Philly has been looking strong the last couple weeks and Embiid appears motivated right now, which makes the 76ers a really dangerous team.
NBA Prediction: Philadelphia 76ers -3.5
