According to oddsmakers at BetNow.eu, the Rockets are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -6.5 points against the Blazers. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 219.5 points. Portland seeks third straight win
The Portland Trail Blazers have won their last two games, beating Phoenix and Minnesota, coming into tonight. The Blazers also covered in both wins. Portland is 15-11 on the season, 5-7 on the road, 13-13 against the spread and 14-12 with the over.
The Blazers are middle of the road on both sides of the ball right now. They average 112.3 points per game on offense while giving up 110.4 on defense. One thing Portland does well is rebound, as they rank second in the NBA with 49.5 per game. Damian Lillard is leading Portland with 27.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game. CJ McCollum is adding 21.2 points per contest.
Rockets on a skid
The Houston Rockets are coming off three straight losses on the road, two of which were by double figures. They failed to cover in all three games as well. Houston is now 11-14 on the season, 5-5 at home, 9-16 against the spread and 14-11 with the over.
The Rockets are putting up just 108.3 points per game on offense while shooting 44.7 percent from the field and 33.7 percent from the arc. Defensively, Portland is giving up 109.7 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 47.5 percent from the field. James Harden is averaging 30 points, 5.5 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 2.09 steals per game this season. Clint Capela is adding 17.6 points and 11.8 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Portland
The Blazers have failed to cover the spread in five straight road games and in eight of their last 10 overall.
Houston
The Rockets are 1-6 against the spread in their last seven games against Northwest opponents and 1-4 ATS in their last five conference games.
Prediction:
Portland won the first meeting in Houston by 19 points and the Blazers have covered the spread in five of their last six against the Rockets. It’s concerning to go with Portland on the road right now, as they have not played well over the last few weeks away from home. However, Houston just hasn’t figured things out and if the Rockets are to win, I see this game being a grind. Houston isn’t shooting the ball like it did last year and is facing one of the best rebounding teams in the league, so second-chance opportunities may be hard to come by.
NBA Prediction: Portland Trail Blazers +6.5
