Pistons on four-game skid
The Pistons have lost four straight games coming into tonight, including a 117-111 loss to the Embiid-less 76ers on Friday. They have failed to cover in all four games as well. The Pistons are 13-11 overall, 4-5 on the road, 12-12 against the spread and 12-12 with the over/under total.
Detroit has been struggling on offense this season, averaging just 109.4 points per game while shooting only 43 percent from the floor and 31.6 percent from the arc. Defensively, Detroit is giving up 110.0 points per game, but holding opponents to just 31.5 percent from the arc. The Pistons are short-handed, with guard Ish Smith out until January with a groin injury while Reggie Bullock (ankle) and Stanley Johnson (knee) are both questionable tonight. Blake Griffin has been leading the team this season with 25.6 points, 9.1 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game while Andre Drummond adds 18.3 points and 15.4 rebounds per contest.
76ers heating up
Philadelphia has won five of its last six games following the road win at Detroit on Friday night. The 76ers have also covered in four of their last five games. Philly is now 18-9 on the season, 13-1 at home, 12-15 against the spread and 16-11 with the over.
The 76ers are averaging 113.8 points per game this season on offense while holding opponents to 111.8 points per contest on 44.1 percent shooting. Joel Embiid sat out Friday’s game in Detroit for rest, but should be back in the lineup tonight. Embiid is averaging 26.3 points and 13.3 rebounds per game this season to lead the team. Jimmy Butler is adding 21.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
NBA Betting Trends
Detroit
The Pistons are 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games, but just 3-9 ATS in their last 12 road games against a team with a winning home record.
Philadelphia
Philly is 28-13 against the spread in their last 41 home games and 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games when playing on two days rest.
Prediction:
Philadelphia has covered in six of its last seven games against the Pistons and Friday’s win was pretty telling for the Pistons, as the 76ers didn’t have their best player. Detroit is playing in its third game in four days, so their legs are likely to be a little weary. Philly should be nice and fresh, especially Embiid. Look for him to dominate as the 76ers roll to a victory.
NBA Prediction: Philadelphia 76ers -7
