Nuggets win streak snapped
Denver had its seven-game win streak snapped on Friday night in a 113-107 loss at Charlotte. It also snapped their seven-game cover streak. The Nuggets are 17-8 overall, 8-5 on the road, 15-10 against the spread and 15-9-1 with the under.
The Nuggets have been pretty steady on defense this year, holding opponents to 103.8 points per game. Opponents are also shooting just 31.8 percent from the arc this year. On offense, Denver is averaging 110.6 points per game. The Nuggets have a growing injury list, as six are currently on the injury report. Both Paul Millsap and Gary Harris are questionable today with differing injuries. Jamal Murray is leading the offense with 18 points and 5.0 assists per game while Nikola Jokic is adding 16.4 points, 9.6 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game.
Hawks on a four-game skid
Atlanta has lost four straight games coming into tonight, including a 131-117 loss at home to the Wizards back on Wednesday. They have also failed to cover in all four losses. The Hawks are now 5-20 overall, 3-9 at home, 9-16 against the spread and 15-10 with the over.
The Hawks are struggling on both sides of the ball. The defense is giving up 119 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 47.4 percent from the floor and 38.1 percent from the arc. On offense, Atlanta is putting up 108.0 points per game and shooting just 31.4 percent from the arc. Center Miles Plumlee is doubtful to play tonight with a knee injury while Jeremy Lin and Omari Spellman are listed as out with back and hip injuries, respectively. John Collins is leading the team with 16.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game while rookie Trae Young is putting up 15.7 points and 7.3 assists per game.
NBA Betting Trends
Denver
The Nuggets are 5-1 against the spread in their last six road games, but just 2-5 ATS in their last seven following a loss.
Atlanta
The Hawks are just 1-7 against the spread in their last eight home games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven following a loss.
Prediction:
Denver is playing its third game in four nights, all on the road, which is normally a concern. However, the Hawks are a mess. Denver picked up a 138-93 win over the Hawks at home a few weeks ago and I think the Nuggets have far too much talent to let Atlanta stick around. The Hawks have no offensive or defensive chemistry. Young is not shooting well and looking like he could be a bit of a bust already. With the injuries Atlanta has, they need much more from him than what they are getting.
NBA Prediction: Denver Nuggets -7
