Pistons win streak snapped
The Detroit Pistons had their five-game win streak ended on Monday night in a 110-83 loss at home to the Thunder. Detroit is 13-8 overall, 12-9 against the spread and 11-10 with the over. The Pistons are 7-2 against the spread over their last nine game.
The Pistons have relied more on defense this year. They are 10th in defensive scoring, allowing just 109.2 points per game while holding opponents to 31.1 percent from the arc. On offense, the Pistons are putting up 110.2 points per game, but shooting just 43.3 percent from the field and 32.3 percent from the arc. Blake Griffin has been leading the team with 24.6 points, 9.2 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. Andre Drummond is adding 18.3 points and 15.9 rebounds per contest.
Bucks flip-flopping
The Milwaukee Bucks are coming off a 136-134 OT loss at New York on Saturday. They have alternated wins and losses over their last six games. The Bucks are now 15-7 overall, 11-10-1 against the spread and 15-7 with the over. Milwaukee has failed to cover in five straight games.
The Bucks have the top-scoring offense in the NBA, averaging 121.4 points per game while shooting 48.8 percent from the field. They also are the best rebounding team in the league with 50.5 per game. On defense, the Bucks give up 111.3 points per game while holding opponents to just 44.4 percent shooting. Giannis Antetokounmpo has been leading the team while going on an MVP campaign. The Greek Freak is averaging 27.6 points, 13.2 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game. Khris Middleton is adding 18.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Detroit
The Pistons have covered the spread in four straight road games and in five of their last seven division games.
Milwaukee
The Bucks are just 2-10 against the spread in their last 12 Wednesday games and 6-14-2 ATS in their last 22 division games.
Prediction:
These two have yet to meet this year, but the Pistons have a strong history against the Bucks, going 4-0-1 against the spread in the last five meetings, three of which came at Milwaukee. While the Pistons have been at home for a long stretch, I don’t expect a big letdown on the road. They got a nice wake-up call from the Thunder and should be ready to erase that performance. Milwaukee has failed to cover in five straight, beating the likes of the Bulls by just three and the Suns by just two. Both of those games were at home. I look for this to be another tight game as the Pistons are playing like Eastern Conference contenders.
