Beverley ejected, Clippers fall
Los Angeles guard Patrick Beverley threw a basketball at a fan and was ejected Sunday night in a 114-110 loss at the Mavericks. It highlighted a frustrating night for LA as its fourth-quarter comeback attempt fell short. Montrezl Harrell paced the Clippers (15-7) with 23 points and 10 rebounds in 24 minutes off the bench as he shot 11-of-15 from the floor. Danilo Gallinari contributed 21 points, six rebounds and three assists. Lou Williams registered 21 points, eight assists and three boards as a reserve. Tobias Harris had 15 points, five rebounds and four assists. Avery Bradley added 12 points, three caroms, three dimes and two steals.
Pelicans roll to win at Hornets
New Orleans picked up a 119-109 victory Sunday at Charlotte to improve to 12-12 on the season. The Pelicans led 65-56 at halftime en route to the triumph. Anthony Davis paced New Orleans with 36 points plus 19 rebounds, eight assists, two steals and two blocked shots. He shot 14-of-19 from the floor and a perfect 6-of-6 at the charity stripe. Jrue Holiday tallied 19 points, eight assists and four boards. Nikola Mirotic had 16 points and eight rebounds, while Julius Randle registered 13 points and nine caroms off the bench. Darius Miller added 13 points as a reserve.
NBA Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Clippers are 4-0 ATS in their last four games following an ATS loss. Los Angeles is 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings.
New Orleans
The under is 4-0 in the last four meetings in New Orleans. The over is 6-0 in the last six Pelicans games played on zero days of rest.
Prediction:
Both teams played yesterday so there is no real advantage there, but with the Pelicans being at home I lean their way. But while a bet on the hosts seems reasonable, I like the thought process that this will be a complete shootout that goes over the total. Both defenses will be tired and these squads can play at a break-neck pace, so expect the points to pile up quickly. Go with the over.
