Spurs vs. Thunder Pick
Are the San Antonio Spurs going to upset the host Oklahoma City Thunder tonight at 7PM ET or will Russell Westbrook and company prove to be too much?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Thunder are listed as a 4.5-point favorite on the spread line. The total is set at 199 points.
San Antonio comes in with a 15-7 overall record and 11-10-1 ATS after a 95-79 win at the Grizzlies, its fourth consecutive victory. Oklahoma City is 9-12 overall and 8-13 ATS following a 111-107 home triumph over the Timberwolves., which ended a three-game losing skid. The Spurs won the first meeting this season at home by a score of 104-101 on Nov. 17. San Antonio is 3-1 straight up and 3-1 ATS in four meetings since the start of last season. The under is 3-1.
The Spurs were paced by LaMarcus Aldridge with 22 points and six rebounds in the win at Memphis. Rudy Gay contributed 18 points and five rebounds off the bench. Manu Ginobili added 11 points, seven rebounds and six assists off the bench. San Antonio led the hosts 47-38 at halftime.
Paul George led the Thunder with 36 points, nine assists, four rebounds and three blocked shots in the victory over Minnesota. Steven Adams chipped in with 27 points and six rebounds. Russell Westbrook added 15 points, 14 assists, nine rebounds and two steals. Oklahoma City led 64-54 at halftime.
San Antonio is 4-14 ATS in its last 18 meetings in Oklahoma City. The under is 11-4 in the last 15 meetings in Oklahoma City.
Oklahoma City got a key win over the T-Wolves at home, although it did not cover the spread. If the season ended today, the Thunder would be outside the playoff picture. That is shocking considering the summer trades to bring in George and Carmelo Anthony were made to turn OKC into a contender. Although the Spurs have had a lot of struggles in Oklahoma City, many of those were when Kevin Durant was a member of the Thunder. Look for a seasoned team in San Antonio take advantage of the hosts not fully realizing their potential as a team just yet.
