Curry keeps lighting up the competition
Having ripped off 103 points in his past three games, Stephen Curry is looking every bit the reigning MVP. And, unfortunately for the Suns, the Golden State sensation shows no interest in sparing the despondent.
The two Pacific Division combatants collide tonight, with an 8 p.m. ET tip at Oracle Arena. Online sports book Bovada.lv gives Steve Kerr’s troops odds of -5000 to prevail. Phoenix, on the other hand, represents a +1500 underdog.
On Monday, Curry buried an NBA-record 13 treys against New Orleans. He followed that up with a total of 11 more in subsequent victories over Dallas and Denver. Backcourt mate Klay Thompson added three bombs of his own in that meeting with the Nuggets.
The Suns (3-7), though, would also do well to be mindful of an extra-motivated Kevin Durant. Golden State’s newest addition saw his streak of 72 consecutive contests with at least 20 points come to an end in the Mile High City. Still, the seven-time All-Star ranks among the league’s leading scorers through the first two-plus weeks of the season.
It’s a quick turnaround for Earl Watson’s club, which absorbed a 122-104 loss to Brooklyn about 18 hours ago. Frankly, however, no amount of preparation can put youthful Phoenix on equal ground with the Warriors (7-2). Expect the hosts to capture their ninth straight win in the series in a fairly easy manner.
