Rockets win shootout at Wizards
Houston earned a 159-158 victory Wednesday night at Washington as James Harden poured in 59 points to lead the way. The Rockets (3-1, 1-0) outscored the Wizards 48-41 in the fourth quarter to clinch the win. Harden shot 18-of-32 from the floor, 6-of-14 from 3-point range plus 17-of-18 at the free throw line to notch the win. He also accounted for nine assists and three rebounds. Clint Capela tallied 21 points, 12 rebounds and three assists. Russell Westbrook had a triple-double of 17 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds plus two steals. Danuel House Jr. had 16 points, seven boards and two steals. Eric Gordon contributed 15 points in 30 minutes off the bench. Austin Rivers added 11 points and three dimes as a reserve.
Nets fall to Pacers
Brooklyn suffered a 118-108 home defeat against Indiana Wednesday night to drop to 1-3 on the season and 1-2 at home. The Nets were outscored 58-45 in the second half of the defeat. Kyrie Irving led Brooklyn with 28 points on 11-of-20 shooting including 2-of-6 from 3-point range and 4-of-5 at the free throw line. He also registered seven rebounds and six assists. Spencer Dinwiddie tallied 20 points, seven dimes and two boards off the bench. Caris LeVert accounted for 15 points, six caroms and three assists. Joe Harris added 13 points and two rebounds.
NBA Betting Trends
Houston
The Rockets are 5-0 ATS in their last five games versus the Atlantic Division. Houston is 0-4 ATS in its last four games playing on one day of rest.
Brooklyn
The Nets are 0-5 ATS in their last five home games. Brooklyn is 0-8 ATS in its last eight games overall.
Prediction:
Brooklyn is in a waiting year before Kevin Durant gets healthy and its showing on the court, with Irving basically having free reign to do about anything he wants. But the Rockets have their own issues defensively and I’m not convinced the early-season successes are what we are going to see long-term. Houston already almost lost to an arguably worse Wizards team two nights ago and I think this one stays close as well with the Nets ending their poor ATS streak and perhaps even winning outright.
