Timberwolves vs. Pelicans Pick
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Pelicans are listed as a 2.5-point favorite on the spread line. The over-under is set at 223 points.
Minnesota comes in with a 4-3 record following a 125-122 overtime win at the Heat. New Orleans is 3-4 after a 115-99 home loss to the Magic. The Pelicans won all three meetings straight up last year and covered the spread all three times as well. The total went over all three games.
The Timberwolves were led by Jeff Teague as he tallied 23 points and 11 assists at Miami. Karl-Anthony Towns put in 20 points and 12 rebounds. Andrew Wiggins contributed 22 points and seven boards. Jimmy Butler had 16 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Anthony Davis had 39 points and 10 rebounds in the loss to Orlando. DeMarcus Cousins recorded 12 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Jrue Holiday had 11 points and eight assists. New Orleans was outscored 28-15 in the fourth quarter.
Minnesota is 2-4-1 ATS this season, while New Orleans is 4-3 ATS.
Minnesota and New Orleans both have matchup-proof interior players, it just so happens the Pelicans have two such dominant presences. But Towns has plenty of help around him and the additions of Butler plus Teague have turned the Timberwolves into a legitimate playoff contender. Covering the spread here against a New Orleans team that can quite often look shaky would be a nice statement on the road.
