Blazers overwhelmed in opener
Portland dropped the series opener on Tuesday night, 116-94. They were playing just two days after a Game 7 with Denver, which could have contributed to their struggles. Portland is 61-34 on the season, 24-24 on the road, 51-43-1 against the spread and 50-43-2 with the over.
The Blazers couldn’t find their shot in Game 1, as they went just 30 of 83 from the floor and 7 of 28 from the arc. They also had 21 turnovers in the loss. Damian Lillard led the way with 19 points, but was just 4 of 12 shooting. C.J. McCollum and Maurice Harkless each had 17 points while Enes Kanter added 10 points and 16 rebounds. Rodney Hood also scored 17 off the bench.
Warriors look strong
Even without leading scorer, Kevin Durant, the Golden State Warriors picked up another impressive win on Tuesday night. The Warriors have won and covered in both games without Durant thus far. Golden State is now 66-29 on the season, 35-13 at home, 41-53-1 against the spread and 49-45-1 with the under.
After struggling with his shot for most of the series with Houston, Stephen Curry looked like his old self in Tuesday’s win. Curry put up 36 points on 12 of 23 shooting, including 9 of 15 shooting from the arc. He also had six rebounds and seven assists. Klay Thompson added 26 points while Draymond Green had 12 points with 10 rebounds. Golden State also had a great bench effort, with seven different players scoring off the bench.
NBA Betting Trends
Portland
The Blazers are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games playing on 1 day of rest, but 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a loss.
Golden State
The Warriors are 11-4 against the spread in their last 15 conference finals games, but just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 following a win.
Prediction:
It’s hard to predict the shooting trends of these two teams, but the Blazers are going to need to shoot much better to compete tonight. It’s certainly possible behind Lillard and McCollum, but they have been somewhat streaky, especially McCollum. Portland doesn’t have the role players that can step up in the absence. Curry struggled a great deal against Houston, but has looked lights out since the Durant injury. The Warriors seem to be embracing being doubted without Durant and I think that is driving them a lot right now. I think Portland could potentially come out of this game hot, but I am going to choose to go with Golden State as long as they are riding this new wave of momentum.
NBA Prediction: Golden State Warriors -7.5
