Nets on win streak

Brooklyn is the 6 seed in the East and the Nets come into today’s game riding a three-game win streak following a 113-94 win over Miami in Wednesday’s season finale. The Nets are 42-40 on the season, 19-22 on the road, 45-37 against the spread and 41-41 with the over/under total.

The Nets have been middle of the road on offense and defense this season. Offensively, they are putting up 112.2 points per game while shooting 44.9 percent as a team from the field and 35.3 percent from the arc. Defensively, Brooklyn is giving up 112.3 points per game while opponent shoot 45.6 percent from the floor against them and 34.1 percent from the arc. Both DeMarre Carroll and Joe Harris are listed as questionable for today’s game due to injury. D’Angelo Russell is leading the team with 21.1 points and 7.0 assists per game while Spencer Dinwiddie adds 16.8 points and 4.6 assists per contest.

76ers struggling

Philadelphia is coming off a 125-109 win at home over Chicago on Wednesday, but the 76ers are just 2-4 overall and against the spread in their last six games entering the playoffs. Philly is 51-31 on the season, 31-10 at home, 38-44 against the spread and 43-39 with the over.

The 76ers are one of the stronger offensive teams in the league, averaging 115.2 points per game while shooting 47.1 percent from the field and 35.9 percent from the arc. Defensively, Philly gives up 112.5 points per game while holding opponents to 45.5 percent shooting from the field and 34.2 percent shooting from the arc. They come into today a little beat up as Joel Embiid, JJ Redick and Ben Simmons are all listed as questionable to play due to injuries. Redick and Simmons are expected to play, but Embiid is closer to doubtful due to a lingering knee injury. Embiid is averaging 27.5 points and 13.6 rebounds per game. Simmons is adding 16.9 points, 8.8 rebounds and 7.7 assists per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

The Nets are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven road games and 10-4 ATS in their last 14 division games.

The 76ers are 6-15 ATS in their last 21 division games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a win.

These two split the four meetings this year, with the home team going 2-2. However, the Nets covered the spread in three of the four meetings. Given the fact that Philadelphia could be without its best player, I tend to side with the Nets today. Brooklyn has a little momentum coming into the playoffs and Russell has played with a real chip on his shoulder the second half of the season. That should continue in the playoffs where people may be overlooking he and the Nets. I think Brooklyn can score with Philly and match them with their guard play.

NBA Prediction: Brooklyn Nets +5.5
