Hornets still alive

Charlotte opened a West Coast road trip on Friday with a 129-115 loss to the Lakers in L.A. That snapped a 4-game win streak for the Hornets. Charlotte is 35-40 overall, 11-25 on the road, 35-39-1 against the spread and 42-32-1 with the over. The Hornets are currently 2.5 games out of the East playoff race with seven games remaining.

The Hornets are putting up 110.9 points per game on offense this season while shooting 44.8 percent as a team. Defensively, Charlotte is allowing 111.9 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 46.8 percent. Kemba Walker is leading the team with 25.2 points and 5.9 assists per game while Jeremy Lamb is adding 15.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per contest.

Warriors upset by T’Wolves

The Golden State Warriors are coming off a 131-130 OT loss at Minnesota on Friday. They have failed to cover in three of their last four games. Golden State is 51-24 on the season, 26-11 at home, 31-43-1 against the spread and 39-36 with the under. The Warriors are tied with Denver for first in the West right now, but they own the tiebreaker.

Golden State has the second-best offense in the NBA this season, averaging 117.5 points per game while shooting 48.8 percent as a team. Defensively, the Warriors are giving up 111.8 points per game while opponents shoot 44.6 percent against them. Stephen Curry is leading the team with 27.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game. Kevin Durant is adding 26.8 points, 6.6 rebounds and 5.7 assists per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

The Hornets are 2-6-1 against the spread in their last nine against Western Conference opponents and 5-14 ATS in their last 19 road games against a team with a winning home record.

Golden State

The Warriors are 2-9-1 against the spread in their last 12 games against a team with a losing record and just 9-24 ATS in their last 33 Sunday games.

The Warriors have a problem with playing down to their competition, but the loss at Minnesota should be a wake-up call for them. They are tied with Denver for home-court in the West and they can’t afford to be sloppy and let games like this get out of hand. They are clearly the better team here in terms of scoring depth and talent. Charlotte has Walker, but he can’t best the Warriors on his own if Golden State is motivated. Given the way GS lost on Friday, I think they will come out angry and play well tonight.

NBA Prediction: Golden State Warriors -11.5
