Jazz vs. Mavericks Pick
809 Utah Jazz at 810 Dallas Mavericks, 8:30PM ET
According to oddsmakers at YouWager, the Jazz are an 8.5-point favorite on the spread line. The total is set at 198.5 points.
Utah opened as an 8-point favorite before the spread went up half a point, while the total has come down from 199.5. The Jazz are at -8.5 almost across the board, but can still be found at -8 in Las Vegas. The total is 198.5 at most books, but is also at 199 at certain places.
As of Thursday afternoon, 54 percent of public bets have sided with the visiting Jazz. Online wager info also shows that 56 percent of bets are coming in on the under.
INJURY TO WATCH
Utah power forward Derrick Favors (knee) is probable for tonight. Point guard Raul Neto (wrist) is out until early April, while center Tony Bradley (brain injury) is out indefinitely. Thabo Sefolosha (knee) is out for the season. For the Mavs, center Salah Mejri (hamstring) is probable to play. Point guard Dennis Smith Jr. (ankle) is out indefinitely, while shooting guards Wesley Matthews (leg) and Seth Curry (leg) are both out for the season.
The Jazz blew their last game as they fell 99-94 at home versus the Hawks, which ended their nine-game winning streak. Expect a focused effort here against a Dallas team they have already beaten twice at home this season by scores of 104-89 and 97-90. While the spread is a bit too high for me to have interest on the road, I do expect a low-scoring game as Utah will impose its will defensively and play with its usual deliberate and plodding pace on offense.
