Mavs take on struggling Kings
With the Kings in the middle of a funk, will the Mavericks roll tonight when they host Sacramento at 8:30PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Mavericks are 7-point home favorites versus the Kings while the over/under currently sits at 221.5 points, up from the opening number of 220. Sacramento enters play with a 24-35 record and is 25-34 against the spread this season, while Dallas is 33-28 overall and 34-26 against the number.
The Kings are a mess. They've lost four straight games and eight of their last 10, they haven't covered a point spread in four consecutive games, they're banged up and they're playing on back-to-back nights. Rajon Rondo (thumb) was probable for tonight's game around Noon but was downgraded to questionable despite having an opportunity to face his old team. With Rudy Gay also questionable and Seth Curry doubtful, the Kings' depth will be tested tonight.
The Kings are just 3-13 against the spread in their last 16 games overall and have failed to cover the spread in eight of their last nine road games. They're also 0-9 against the number in their last nine games versus a team with a winning record and 3-14 ATS in their last 17 games following a loss.
The Mavs, meanwhile, are hot. They're 4-1 against the spread in their last five home games, 4-0 ATS in their last four games playing on one day of rest and they're 19-7-1 against the number in their last 27 home games versus the Kings. Lay the points.
