Cavs hit the road
Cleveland is coming off a five-game homestand where it went 3-2 straight up and against the spread. That included a 107-104 win over the Knicks on Feb. 11. The Cavs are 14-47 overall, 5-24 on the road, 27-33-1 against the spread and 31-29-1 with the over.
The Cavs rank second-to-last in the NBA in scoring, putting up just 103.4 points per game while shooting 44.1 percent as a team. Defensively, Cleveland is giving up 113.3 points per game while allowing team’s to shoot 49 percent, which ranks last in the league. Kevin Love is putting up 17.8 points and 11.0 rebounds per game to lead the team while Jordan Clarkson is adding 17 points per contest.
Knicks actually heating up
New York had an 18-game losing streak not that long ago, but the Knicks have won and covered the spread in three of their last four, including a 108-103 win at home over Orlando last night. New York is 13-48 overall, 6-24 at home, 26-34-1 against the spread and 32-29 with the under.
The Knicks are putting up just 105.7 points per game on offense this season while shooting a league-worst 43.1 percent. Defensively, New York is giving up 113.9 points per game while opponents shoot 47 percent against them. Mario Hezonja and DeAndre Jordan are both out for this game with injuries. Dennis Smith Jr. is leading the team with 15.4 points and 6.5 assists per game while Emmanuel Mudiay is adding 14.9 points per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Cleveland
The Cavs are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games following a loss and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games on 2 days of rest.
New York
The Knicks are 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 games playing on 1 day of rest and just 5-15 ATS in their last 20 home games.
Prediction:
The Cavs have won and covered in both meetings with the Knicks this season and I think they will do it again tonight. New York is playing well, but the Knicks want that top pick in the draft, so they will ultimately resort to losing in the long run. Without much presence in the paint, I think Cleveland should be able to exploit that with the likes of Love and company. I will take the Cavs getting points on the road against this New York team.
