Wizards on a slide
Washington is riding a four-game losing streak right now following a 119-112 loss at home to Indiana. The Wizards are 1-3 against the spread in the four games. Washington is now 24-36 overall, 7-24 on the road, 26-34 against the spread and 38-22 with the over.
The Wizards have a potent offense and an awful defense. Washington is putting up 113.8 points per game on offense while shooting 47 percent from the field. Defensively, Washington gives up 117 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 47.8 percent against them. Bradley Beal is leading the team with 25.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game while Bobby Portis is averaging 15.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in his short time with the team.
Nets heating up
Brooklyn is coming off 101-85 win at home over San Antonio for its second straight win. The Nets have won three of their last four and have covered the spread in four of their last five overall. Brooklyn is now 32-30 on the season, 18-14 at home, 35-27 against the spread and 33-29 with the over.
The numbers aren’t terribly impressive for Brooklyn, as the Nets average just 112 points per game on offense while giving up 112.3 per contest. Still, it’s been working out for the most part this season. D’Angelo Russell is leading the team with 20.5 points and 6.7 assists per game while Caris LeVert is adding 15.9 points per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Washington
The Wizards are just 20-41 against the spread in their last 61 road games and 4-23 ATS in their last 27 road games against a team with a winning home record.
Brooklyn
The Nets are 9-1 against the spread in their last 10 Wednesday games and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following a win.
Prediction:
The Wizards are an awful defensive team and that isn’t going to lead to good things against a Brooklyn team that can put the ball in the basket behind its strong guards. The Nets aren’t a defensive juggernaut, but I think they can have an improved effort at home against a Washington team that takes a big step back in scoring on the road. The Nets are trying to improve their playoff standing while the Wizards look like they have quit.
NBA Prediction: Brooklyn Nets -5
