Celtics roll the Blazers
Boston is coming off a 118-106 win at Portland last night. The Celtics have won eight of their last 10 and covered the spread in four straight games. Boston is 40-17 on the season, 17-12 on the road, 35-20-2 against the spread and 30-27 with the under.
The Celtics are a solid defensive team, allowing just 106.5 points per game while holding opponents to 44.1 percent shooting. Offensively, Boston is up to 113.4 points per game while shooting 46.3 percent from the field. The Celtics have been without Kemba Walker recently. While he is approaching closer to a return, he is still doubtful tonight with a knee injury. Walker averages 21.8 points per game this year. Jayson Tatum is leading the team with 23.1 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. Jaylen Brown is adding 20.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per contest.
Jazz drop third straight at home
Utah has been very streaky as of late. The Jazz are coming off a surprising 131-111 loss at home to the Suns on Monday for a third straight defeat. Utah is now 36-21 on the season, 20-8 at home, 28-28-1 against the spread and 30-27 with the over.
The Jazz are giving up 107.9 points per game on defense this season while opponents shoot 45.1 percent from the floor. Offensively, Utah is putting up 111.1 points per game while the team shoots 47.4 percent from the field. Donovan Mitchell has been leading Utah with 24.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. Rudy Gobert is adding 15.5 points, 14.3 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Boston
The Celtics are 9-3 against the spread in their last 12 games as a road underdog and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against a winning team.
Utah
The Jazz are 1-6-1 against the spread in their last eight home games and 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 games overall.
Prediction:
These two haven’t met this season. Boston has been looking really good in recent weeks, while the Jazz are back to one of their funks. Utah has been thoroughly beaten at home by the Spurs, Rockets and Suns in the last week, losing each game by nine points or more. The concern for Boston tonight is they played last night and this is their third game in four days, all in different cities. Despite that, I think the Celtics have the depth to be competitive tonight. Tatum has really taken his game up a notch recently and the Boston offense is clicking to go with a really sound defense. Utah just hasn’t looked good and I don’t think they will just magically flip a switch tonight against a surging team.
NBA Prediction: Boston Celtics +4.5
