The Rockets blew an 18-point halftime lead in their narrow loss to the Thunder over the weekend but will look to regroup on Monday night when they host the Mavericks at 8:00 p.m. ET. Will Dallas at least cover the spread as a large road underdog?

Dallas Mavericks Fantasy Spin
Luka Doncic powered the Mavs to a 102-101 win over the Trail Blazers on Sunday, tallying 28 points, nine boards, six dimes, four treys, one block and three turnovers across 38 minutes. Doncic got off to a slow start in this one, going 3-of-9 from the floor through the first half of action, but he looked like a superstar when the fourth quarter hit, rallying off 13 points while rocking a 34.6 usage rate as he led the Mavs to a win over the No. 4 seeded Blazers. Unfortunately, was clutching at his left hand and grimacing in pain at times throughout the game, which is the same hand that required a precautionary X-ray on Saturday. While the X-ray came back clean, it looks like this could become an ongoing issue.
Houston Rockets Fantasy Spin
James Harden (left shoulder soreness) is probable for Monday's game against the Mavericks. Harden took a hit from Steven Adams during Saturday's game and was bothered by a sore shoulder for the rest of the game. However, it didn't stop him from dropping 42 points on the Thunder. Coach Mike D'Antoni dismissed any concerns regarding Harden's shoulder and expects him to play Monday. He'll likely be receiving treatment leading up to tip-off.
NBA Betting Trends
Dallas
The Mavericks have covered the spread in nine of their previous 10 games when their opponent scores 100 points or more in its previous contest.
Houston
The Rockets are winless at the betting window in their last five games versus an opponent with a losing record.
Prediction
The road team covered the spread in four of the previous five games and while I don’t expect the Rockets to lose two in a row, I do like the Mavs tonight at the betting window. When the Rockets hit their shots they’re unbeatable but if their offense runs cold like it did in the second half versus the Thunder on Saturday night, then Houston’s shaky defense allows opponents to take over games. The Mavericks are 8-1-1 against the spread in their last 10 games overall and covered four straight on the road. The Rockets, meanwhile, are 1-5 against the spread in their last six home games.
Monday NBA Prediction: Dallas Mavericks +9.5
