Houston likely without the big two

Houston is coming off a 117-110 loss at Denver last night and they have a quick turnaround with Russell Westbrook already out for rest tonight, while James Harden is doubtful with his thigh injury. The Rockets are 28-17 overall, 13-10 on the road, 21-24 against the spread and 25-20 with the under.

The Rockets have the second-ranked offense in the NBA. They are putting up 118.5 points per game while shooting 45.4 percent from the field. Defensively, Houston is giving up 114.3 points per game while opponents shoot 45.7 percent against them. Harden is putting up 36.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game while Westbrook averages 26 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.4 assists per contest. Eric Gordon could be the team leader tonight. He averages 14.7 points per game.

Jazz remain strong

Nobody seems to be playing better basketball in the last month than the Jazz. They are currently riding a four-game win streak following a 112-107 win at home over Dallas on Saturday. Utah is 32-13 on the season, 18-3 at home, 25-19-1 against the spread and 23-22 with the over.

Utah is one of the better defensive teams in the NBA, allowing just 105.8 points per game while holding opponents to 44.4 percent shooting. Offensively, Utah is putting up 111.1 points per contest while shooting 47.4 percent from the field and 38.8 percent from the arc. The Jazz are led by Donovan Mitchell, who is putting up 24.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per contest. Bojan Bogdanovic is adding 21.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

Houston

The Rockets are 11-5 against the spread in their last 16 games as an underdog, but just 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games.

Utah

The Jazz are 7-0-1 against the spread in their last eight games as a home favorite and 12-2 ATS in their last 14 games playing on 1 day of rest.

Prediction:

These two foes haven’t met this year. Obviously Houston looks to be outmatched tonight if Harden isn’t able to go, but the concern will be if Utah can win by 13. The Jazz have been rolling as of late. Three of their last four wins have been by at least 20 points. Despite not being built with an overwhelming offense, the Utah defense has been really locked in. Houston just won’t have the weapons to score like they need to to be competitive. The Rockets don’t have the defense to overcome this offensive shortcomings.

NBA Prediction: Utah Jazz -12.5
