Clippers struggling to cover
Los Angeles has won two straight and four of its last five, but the Clippers have failed to cover the spread in three straight games entering tonight. Los Angeles is 27-12 on the season, 10-8 on the road, 21-18 against the spread and 20-19 with the under.
The Clippers are putting up 115.6 points per game on offense while shooting 46.3 percent from the field. Defensively, Los Angeles is allowing 109.5 points per game while opponents shoot 43.8 percent against them. Paul George did not travel with the team to Denver for this game due to a hamstring injury. He is averaging 23.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists per contest. Kawhi Leonard is leading the team with 25.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game.
Nuggets stumble at home
Denver is coming off a surprising loss at home to the Cavaliers, 111-103, on Saturday. That ended a two-game win streak and was the team’s first home game after a five-game road trip. Denver is 26-12 on the season, 15-5 at home, 15-19-4 against the spread and 21-17 with the under.
The Nuggets are one of the stronger defenses in the league, allowing just 105.4 points per game while opponents shoot 45.5 percent against them. Offensively, Denver is putting up 108.9 points per game while opponents shoot 46.1 percent from the field. Nikola Jokic is leading the team with 19.3 points, 9.7 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game. Jamal Murray is adding 17.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.7 assists per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Clippers are 7-2 against the spread in their last nine road games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven Sunday games.
Denver
The Nuggets are 0-6 against the spread in their last six games on no rest and 0-5-2 ATS in their last seven home games.
Prediction:
The Nuggets didn’t look good last night at home, getting outrebounded by 13 while shooting just 41 of 95 from the field. Now they face a Clippers team that, while short-handed, still has a very deep bench to work with. The Clippers haven’t been covering much lately, but they are still winning games and that is what is important. This spread is basically even, and I like the Clippers to win outright tonight against a tired Denver team. Los Angeles has a deep bench and can score at a more consistent rate than the Nuggets. Denver won’t have the legs to play their usual strong defense tonight.
NBA Prediction: Los Angeles Clippers +1
