Bulls vs. Knicks Pick
Can the New York Knicks get off their losing skid tonight when they host the Chicago Bulls at 8PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Knicks are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -3 points against the Bulls. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 203.5 points. New York has won and covered the spread in three straight meetings with Chicago, including a 117-104 win at Chicago on Nov. 4.
The Knicks are a mess right now, losing nine of their last 10, including a 98-97 loss at Philadelphia last night. New York is now 17-22 overall and 22-17 against the spread. Derrick Rose left the team briefly due to personal issues but return in last night’s loss. He is part of a New York offense that averages 105.3 points per game, but the defense is giving up 108.6 points per contest. Rose is averaging 17.5 points per game this season but Carmelo Anthony is leading the team with 22.1 points and 6 rebounds per game.
Chicago has lost two straight, including a 101-99 defeat at Washington on Tuesday. The Bulls are now 19-20 on the season and 19-20 against the spread. Chicago is a much better defensive team, allowing just 101.4 points per game. However, the offense is limited to 101.5 points per contest. Today’s team will also be without its biggest piece as Jimmy Butler is sitting out due to an illness. He averages 25 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game to lead the Bulls. Dwyane Wade will have to step up. He is the team’s next leading scorer with 18.7 points per game.
While the Knicks are a mess right now, I think they find a way to win tonight given Butler is out and the way they lost in Philly. That should be a wake-up call for the Knicks. New York is at home and Carmelo should be in a takeover mode while Rose should be giving his all to prove his loyalty to his team after his departure earlier in the week.
