Bucks end cover funk
Milwaukee ended a four-game failed cover streak last night with a 127-106 win at Sacramento. The Bucks have still won seven of their last eight games. Milwaukee is 34-6 on the season, 16-4 on the road, 22-18 against the spread and 20-19-1 with the over.
The Bucks are the league’s top offense this season, averaging 119.1 points per game while shooting 47.9 percent from the field. Milwaukee’s defense is allowing just 107.1 points per game, while holding opponents to a league-low 41.4 percent shooting. The Bucks may continue to be without Ersan Ilyasova tonight due to a knee injury. Giannis Antetokounmpo is the team leader with 29.8 points, 12.7 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game. Khris Middleton is adding 19.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists per contest.
Blazers can’t get on track
Portland wrapped up a five-game road trip on Thursday night with a 116-102 loss at Minnesota. The Blazers are 2-7 straight up and against the spread in their last nine games. Portland is 16-23 on the season, 8-9 at home, 15-22-2 against the spread and 20-19 with the under.
The Blazers are a respectable offense, putting up 111.7 points per game while shooting 45 percent from the floor. Defensively, Portland is giving up 113.6 points per game while opponents shoot 44.5 percent shooting. Portland could be short-handed, especially in the paint tonight. Jusuf Nurkick has already been out with a leg injury and now Hassan Whiteside (illness) and Mario Hezonja (back) are both questionable to go. Whiteside is averaging 15.8 points and 14.0 rebounds per game. Damian Lillard is leading the team with 26.8 points, 7.6 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game. CJ McCollum is adding 21.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Milwaukee
The Bucks are 7-1 against the spread in their last eight Saturday games and 4-0 ATS in their last four games on no rest.
Portland
The Blazers are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following a loss and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games playing on 1 day of rest.
Prediction:
I am a little weary to see the spread at just six points, because I like the Bucks a lot tonight. I know they played last night, but Portland is a matchup that Milwaukee should eat up. The Blazers don’t play much defense and they are banged-up in the paint. Giannis should have total control of the paint to be able to facilitate offense and keep the Blazers from attacking the rim on defense. Unless Milwaukee just shoots awful and the Blazers light up the scoreboard, I don’t see the Bucks failing to cover tonight.
NBA Prediction: Milwaukee Bucks -6
