Pacers struggling to cover
Indiana is coming off a 135-108 loss at Boston on Wednesday. The Pacers have lost two of their last three games and failed to cover the spread in five straight. Indiana is now 27-14 overall, 13-9 on the road, 21-20 against the spread and 22-19 with the under.
The Pacers have one of the top defenses in the league, allowing just 103.1 points per game while holding opponents to 44.5 percent shooting. Offensively, Indiana is putting up 108.1 points per game while shooting 48.1 percent from the field and 36.9 percent from the arc. Darren Collison and Myles Turner are both questionable to play tonight due to injuries. Victor Oladipo is leading the team with 19.9 points, 5.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game while Bojan Bogdanovic added 16.2 points per contest.
Knicks back on a slide
The Knicks are coming off a 122-95 loss at Golden State on Tuesday as they wrapped up a West Coast road trip. New York is just 1-9 in its last 10 games, but 3-1 against the spread in its last four. The Knicks are 10-31 on the season, 4-12 at home, 18-22-1 against the spread and 23-18 with the over.
New York is putting up 107.4 points per game on offense this season but shooting only 43 percent from the field. Defensively, the Knicks are giving up 115.8 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 47.8 percent from the floor. Enes Kanter is questionable to play tonight due to an illness. He is averaging 14.4 points and 11.0 rebounds per game this year. Tim Hardaway Jr. is leading the team with 20 points per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Indiana
The Pacers have failed to cover the spread in five straight conference games, but they are 35-17 ATS in their last 52 games following a loss.
New York
The Knicks have failed to cover in six straight road games and four straight conference games.
Prediction:
The Pacers have hit a bit of a funk, but they do own a pair of wins over the Knicks already this season. Though the win at New York was by just six points. Still, the Knicks are just 6-10 against the spread at home this season and they could be without Kanter tonight. If he is out, it really hurts the Knicks on both offense and defense. Indiana is already a strong defensive team, so being able to limit New York should be easier without Kanter. Getting Turner back would be a big help for Indiana if he can return from his shoulder injury. Even without him, I think Indiana can handle this spread.
