Who the Public Likes: As of Monday afternoon, 51 percent of public bets are siding with the Pelicans.
Injury Report: Pistons forward Stanley Johnson has missed the last three games with a strained hip and is questionable tonight. Andre Drummond missed the last game with a rib contuision and his status for tonight is unclear. Reggie Jackson is out for another four-to-six weeks at least with an ankle sprain. Jon Leuer is out until mid-January with an ankle sprain. For the Pelicans, Tony Allen is out until mid-January with a leg injury. Alex Ajinca is out for the season after injuring his patellar tendon. Solomon Hill is out until sometime in February with a hamstring injury.
Who the Trends Like: Detroit is 1-6 ATS in its last seven meetings in New Orleans and 2-8 ATS in its last 10 meetings overall. The under is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings in New Orleans.
Who We Like: I certainly don’t always go with the trends, but Detroit has struggled severely in New Orleans and is one without at least one but possibly both of its top two players. Tobias Harris has done a solid job stepping up his role as an offensive threat this season, but he can only do so much when New Orleans has the likes of Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins efficiently scoring basket after basket. While Detroit has been outstanding defensively much of this season, here might be a case where it is too much to ask.
