CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – Kasey Kahne and Tony Stewart are teaming with Jason Leffler’s loved ones to enter next month’s Chili Bowl Nationals in honor of the late racer.
Kahne will drive a car entered in combination with Stewart, Leffler’s girlfriend and former father-in-law, Bob East.
East had been building the car with Leffler before Leffler was killed in a sprint car crash in June. East continued the project.
Tony Stewart Racing is assisting East with the engine and driveline. The car will be raffled off after the race in Oklahoma to benefit the Charlie Dean Leffler Discretionary Trust.
The indoor midget race at the Tulsa Expo Center from Jan. 14-18 is one of the most prestigious midget car events of the year and has a star-studded lineup.
