Bojangles’ Southern 500 Picks
The NASCAR Monster Energy Series has a rare Sunday night race tonight when drivers compete in the Bojangles’ Southern 500. Here’s some drivers we like to contend for the win.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Kyle Busch and Kyle Larson are co-favorites to win tonight, as each has 5/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick and Martin Truex Jr., who each have 6/1 odds. The Bojangles’ Southern 500 is set to take place tonight at 6PM ET from Darlington Raceway in Darlington, South Carolina.
52105 Denny Hamlin 6/1
Hamlin is back among the favorites tonight for a reason. He is a two-time winner at Darlington in his career and he has an impressive average finish of 6.2 at this track. Hamlin has the best driver rating in the field today of 109.0. Hamlin is as hot as anyone right now, placing in the top five in six straight races, including two wins. This has been one of his top tracks and he is on a roll. I think Hamlin is the man to beat tonight.
52107 Brad Keslowski 7/1
Keselowski has a little longer odds than the favorites today, and I think that gives him good value tonight. He is a former winner at Darlington and he has a solid average finish of 11.3 at the track, along with a 98.1 driver rating. This is where Keselowski turned things up last year, as this race started a three-race win streak for the Michigan native. Right now, Keselowski is in somewhat of a funk and he needs a win to get his postseason push going. It can come tonight.
52109 Erik Jones 12/1
Erik Jones is continuing to fight for his spot among the top-level of drivers in NASCAR. He is 14th in the standings right now and is set to take part in his third race at Darlington in his career. His first two showings have been pretty promising, as he placed fifth in 2017 and eighth last year. Jones had a streak of four top-5 finishes in a row a month ago and he is now seeking that win to lock up his spot in the postseason. I think it can come today, where he has one of the best driver ratings of anyone in the field.
