2011 Wins: Kurt Busch
(TheSpread) – Kurt Busch already picked up a win in the Budweiser Shootout this year, but can Busch find a way to win three official races in the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
Oddsmakers at online sportsbook Sportsbook.com have given Busch over/under odds of 2.5 victories in 2011. In order for the wager to be official, Busch must race in 33 races this season.
Busch finished 11th in the point standings last year with two victories during the season. Busch has not had a winless year in his career since 2001, his rookie year.
In his first four seasons, Busch averaged 3.5 wins per year, but over the last five years, he has a total of 8 wins, which is an average of just over 1.5 wins per season.
Despite improving his average start to 11.1 last season, Busch dropped 2.5 spots in average finish all the way down to 15.3. Now with a new car number and sponsor, perhaps that fresh start will give him a boost in his performance. He is a former series champion, so he knows how to perform well over a long period, but three wins seems like a lot for Busch, who is not even the best driver in his own family.
