DETROIT (AP) -Detroit Tigers reliever Jason Grilli left Saturday’s game against the Cleveland Indians after being hit on the left knee by a line drive in the eighth inning.
Grilli fell to the ground but got up and was able to walk off the field. X-rays were negative.
After hitting Grilli’s knee, the ball caromed into the outfield between first and second and Ryan Garko slid safely into second with a double.
Grilli started the inning by giving up a leadoff single to Jhonny Peralta and Dave Delucci’s two-run homer, which broke a 3-3 tie. Garko later scored on a sacrifice fly by Travis Hafner.
