EDS: UPDATES with postgame move.
PITTSBURGH (AP) -The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled left-hander Hong-Chih Kuo from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday so he can start Saturday night in Pittsburgh, and optioned infielder Andy LaRoche to their top farm club.
Earlier Friday, the Dodgers recalled right-hander Eric Hull from Las Vegas to replace injured reliever Yhency Brazoban, who went on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right shoulder.
Kuo is 1-6 with a 4.81 ERA in 39 games with the Dodgers over the last three seasons, allowing four earned runs in 2 1-3 innings during a previous callup two weeks ago. He has made five career starts.
LaRoche was sent down after he flied out as a pinch hitter during the Dodgers’ 5-4 victory Friday night – his first game against older brother Adam LaRoche in the majors. Adam LaRoche is the Pirates’ first baseman.
Hull was 2-2 with two saves and a 3.60 ERA at Las Vegas, striking out 27 and allowing only one homer.
Brazoban gave up three earned runs and four hits in 1 2-3 innings following a May 23 callup. He didn’t retire any of the three hitters he faced Thursday night in Washington, allowing a single with the bases loaded, walking a batter and committing a throwing error.
