MILWAUKEE (AP) -Brewers left-hander Chris Capuano had surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder.
Capuano was operated on Thursday in Birmingham, Ala., by Dr. James Andrews, the team said Friday. Capuano is to begin his rehabilitation Monday in Phoenix and is expected to be ready for spring training.
He began the season 5-0, then lost 12 consecutive decisions to finish 5-12 with a 5.10 ERA. Milwaukee lost the final 22 games Capuano appeared in, including 18 starts and four relief appearances.
Capuano was banished to the bullpen in August, but returned to the rotation for two final starts after ace Ben Sheets injured his left hamstring.
