SEATTLE (AP) -Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire was ejected in the sixth inning Wednesday against the Seattle Mariners, apparently for arguing a called third strike on AL MVP Justin Morneau.
After plate umpire Gary Cederstrom called out the slumping slugger on a pitch from Jarrod Washburn, Morneau had a few words with Cederstrom. Then, after Michael Cuddyer struck out swinging to end the inning, Gardenhire came out to argue with Cederstrom.
Cederstrom ejected Gardenhire immediately. The umpire and manager shouted at each other for about a minute and gestured repeatedly before Gardenhire stomped off.
It was the third ejection of the season for Gardenhire and the 31st of his managerial career.
