MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -The Minnesota Twins planned to call up third baseman Brian Buscher from Triple-A Rochester before Friday’s game against Cleveland.
Buscher began the season with Double-A New Britain, where he hit .308 with seven home runs and 37 RBI in 63 games. He was promoted to Triple-A Rochester on June 20, where he batted .313 with six home runs and 20 RBI in 35 games.
The Twins, who have lost four straight and are in danger of falling out of the playoff race, will transfer outfielder Josh Rabe to the 60-day disabled list to make room for Buscher on the 40-man roster. Outfielder Darnell McDonald was optioned to Rochester after Wednesday’s game, leaving a spot on the 25-man roster.
