No Arbitration for Jeter
NEW YORK, NY -The Yankees have declined to offer salary arbitration to captain Derek Jeter.
Teams had until midnight to make the offer to their former players who became free agents. The Yankees also failed to offer arbitration to closer Mariano Rivera, left-hander Andy Pettitte, reliever Kerry Wood and first baseman Lance Berkman.
New York did offer arbitration to right-hander Javier Vazquez, who is unlikely to re-sign with the Yankees following a disappointing season.
