Luis Robert went 2-for-3 while reaching via hit-by-pitch on Thursday in a loss to the Astros in Game One of the ALDS. Robert’s one out actually saw him reach base, as he got on base from an Alex Bregman throwing error. The one blemish here — other than that out — was he was thrown out rather easily by Martin Maldonado in his steal attempt. It’s still a strong offensive game from the 24-year-old, but he’s one of the few who had any success on Thursday against Lance McCullers and company.

Yordan Alvarez doubled and homered while driving in a pair of runs to help the Astros to a 6-1 win over the White Sox in Game 1 of the ALDS on Thursday. Alvarez doubled in Alex Bregman in the third to extend the Houston lead to 3-0. Two innings later, the 24-year-old slugger ripped a solo homer to make that lead for the Astros 6-0, and the game was effectively over. Alvarez has some of the best power in baseball from the left side — or any side — and he is one of the chief reasons they’re in this position. Houston goes up 1-0, and can get to 2-0 if they defeat the White Sox on Friday.
