Nationals’ Feede to start Wednesday versus Yankees
Nationals manager Davey Martinez confirmed late Tuesday night that Erick Fedde will be called up to start Wednesday against the Yankees. Fedde is the top pitching prospect in the Nationals’ system and pitched pretty well in a spot start last month against the Padres, but he has a 4.76 ERA and 1.48 WHIP in 56 2/3 innings this season at the major league level and is not a recommended fantasy streamer versus the Bronx Bombers.
Yankees’ Gray throws eight shutout innings vs. Blue Jays
Sonny Gray struck out eight batters while turning in eight shutout innings but did not factor into the decision in Wednesday’s extra-inning win over the Blue Jays. His elite performance was matched by opposing starter Sam Gaviglio, preventing either of them from getting the victory in a game that wasn’t decided until the 13th inning. Gray yielded just two base hits and two walks in his second consecutive gem outing. He’s allowed one run in 14 innings over his last two starts. Gray’s record holds at 4-4 with a 4.81 ERA after 12 starts. He will try to keep his momentum going against the Nationals next Wednesday.
MLB Betting Trends
Washington
The Nationals have won 25 of their last 37 games overall but are just 1-4 in their last five road games.
New York
The Yankees have won 19 of their last 26 interleague games after beating the Nationals 3-0 on Tuesday night.
Prediction:
The under is 20-8 in the Nationals’ last 28 games overall, is 13-3 in their last 16 games versus a right-handed starter and is 38-14-6 in their last 58 road games. On the other side, the under is 7-0 in the Yankees’ last seven games, is 5-0 in their last five games coming off a win, and is 3-1-1 in their last five home games. With New York’s offense in a small funk, this is a great spot to take the under.
The Pick: Nationals/Yankees under 9.5
