Toronto Blue Jays Fantasy Spin
Lourdes Gurriel went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Sunday’s win over the Red Sox. This was Gurriel’s second three-hit showing — and third multi-hit showing — in his last four games. The 25-year-old outfielder is in the midst of a very strong season, with Sunday’s trio of knocks adding to a .286/.338/.558 triple-slash across 41 games played. In terms of counting stats, Gurriel has hit nine home runs, driven in 25 runs and swiped two bases in 147 at-bats.
New York Yankees Fantasy Spin
DJ LeMahieu went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run and two runs scored in Sunday’s loss to the Astros. LeMahieu banged a three-run homer off Astros starter Justin Verlander in the fifth inning, the only runs they would put on the board against the right-hander on the day. It was his 10th home run of the year, the third time in his career he’s hit double-digit homers. He’s well on his way to a career high in the category, just five short of the career-best 15 he hit last year. He also tripled in Sunday’s game, finishing a double shy of the cycle. The 30-year-old has been a lifesaver for the banged-up Yankees this year, batting .322/.370/.488 atop the lineup with 54 runs scored.
MLB Betting Trends
Toronto
The Blue Jays are 16-35 in their last 51 games overall.
New York
The Yankees have won 41 of their last 59 games overall.
Prediction:
The Blue Jays had a great weekend in Boston but I like the Yankees tonight on the runline. Toronto is 3-12 in its last 15 games coming off a win, is 1-4 in Aaron Sanchez’s last five road starts and is winless over his last six outings overall. The Blue Jays are also 1-4 in Sanchez’s last five starts versus the Yankees and are 2-6 in their last eight games in New York. Meanwhile, the Yankees have won 29 of CC Sabathia’s last 39 home starts and are 74-33 in their last 107 games following a loss.
Monday MLB Prediction: New York Yankees -1.5 (-140)
