Riley Greene went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in Thursday’s 2-0 victory over the Mets. Greene took Justin Verlander deep in the first inning with a 383-foot blast which registered at 106.8 mph off the bat. It was his first homer since April 18. Javier Báez followed Greene with a solo shot of his own, accounting for all of the offense on the afternoon. Greene has had a disappointing start to the season, but he’s now hit safely in eight straight games.

Nolan Gorman is day-to-day with lower back tightness. Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol told reporters Gorman was lifted from the sixth inning of Thursday’s contest against the Angels due to lower back tightness. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see the 22-year-old slugger sit out Friday’s series opener against the Tigers, especially since lefty Matthew Boyd is taking the ball for Detroit.
