Rays’ 2015 MLB Season Odds
TAMPA, FL (The Spread) – The Rays will have a new look in 2015 and oddsmakers clearly don’t believe that new look will transform into more wins.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Rays’ over/under total for wins is set at 78.5. They’re also 66/1 to win the 2015 World Series, 28/1 to win the AL pennant this season and have the worst odds at 7/1 to win the AL East Division.
Perhaps the Rays’ biggest offseason loss was their manager, Joe Maddon, who decided to head North to Chicago and become the new skipper of the Cubs. He was replaced by Kevin Cash, a former catcher with the Rays during the 2005 season.
The offense will once again be led by Evan Longoria and will once again need contributions from Desmond Jennings and James Loney, especially with Ben Zobrist now in Oakland and Yunel Escobar in Washington. The pitching staff should be a bright spot thanks to Alex Cobb, Drew Smyly, Chris Archer and Jake Odorizzi, who enjoyed some success in his first full season in the big leagues.
