Cardinals vs. Phillies Wednesday Pick

The struggling Cardinals will send rookie Genesis Cabrera to the hill on Wednesday night in Philadelphia in hopes that the youngster sparks their rotation. After a low-scoring night on Tuesday, will the Cards and Phillies go over the total tonight?

Public Betting Trends

According to our MLB Public Betting Chart page, 73% of the betting tickets are on the Phillies to beat the Cardinals on the moneyline.

St. Louis Cardinals Fantasy Spin

Yadier Molina (hand) could get the day off Wednesday. Molina suffered a bruised hand in Sunday’s series finale against the Braves and Jose Martinez pinch-hit for him in the ninth inning of Tuesday night’s series-opening loss to the Phillies, with Cardinals manager Mike Shildt noting after the game that the veteran catcher doesn’t feel like he can drive the ball at the plate right now. Matt Wieters will probably get a rare start on Wednesday in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Phillies Fantasy Spin

Cesar Hernandez hit a two-run home run in the Phillies’ victory over the Cardinals on Tuesday. Hernandez followed J.T. Realmuto’s leadoff single in the bottom of the fourth inning with a no-doubter off the facade of the upper deck in right field at Citizens Bank Park. It turned a one-run deficit into a one-run lead and that wound up being the difference in the game. Hernandez is batting .349 with four long balls in May.

MLB Betting Trends

St. Louis

The Cardinals are 2-9 in their last 11 road games.

Philadelphia

The Phillies are 8-3 in their last 11 games overall.

Prediction:

The over is 9-2 in Aaron Nola’s last 11 starts, is 5-2 in his last seven outings at home and is 6-0 in his last six starts coming off five days of rest. The Cardinals’ offense can be more feast than famine at times but either way I like the over. Cabrera had command issues in the minors and could get blown up by Bryce Harper and Co. tonight.

The Pick: Cardinals/Phillies over 10.5
