St. Louis Cardinals Fantasy Spin
Yadier Molina suffered a bruised right thumb during Sunday’s loss to the Braves. It bothered Molina in the late innings of the ballgame, but didn’t lead to an early exit. The veteran backstop said after Sunday’s game that he fully expects to play on Tuesday.
Philadelphia Phillies Fantasy Spin
Bryce Harper went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts in Sunday’s loss to the Brewers. Nothing doing for Harper, but he was far from alone in his futility. The Phillies managed just one hit — an Andrew Knapp solo home run — on the afternoon. For the campaign as a whole, the big money outfielder has largely struggled, hitting just .227/.355/.438 with nine home runs and 34 RBI in 53 games. Harper has had stretches where it has looked like he might be ready to get things going in earnest, but as of yet, he has been unable to turn those stretches into any real consistent, sustained push. Fantasy owners should continue to exercise patience, as frustrating as Harper ownership might be at this point.
MLB Betting Trends
St. Louis
The Cardinals are 1-6 in their last seven games following an off day.
Philadelphia
The Phillies are 21-6 in their last 27 games versus a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30.
Prediction:
Until the Cardinals turn things around, there’s no reason to play them, especially when their opponent’s moneyline price is as reasonable as the Phillies’ ML odds are tonight. The Cardinals are 2-5 in Adam Wainwright’s last seven road starts and are 0-4 in his last four road outings when facing an opponent with a winning record. The Cardinals are also just 6-16 in their last 22 games overall and have dropped eight of 10 on the road.
Tuesday MLB Prediction: Philadelphia Phillies -125
