Giants’ Cueto outstanding in first start off disabled list
Johnny Cueto (ankle) returned to the mound and allowed just two hits with no walks and 11 strikeouts over seven scoreless innings in a no-decision in Arizona on Tuesday.
Cueto didn’t show any ill effects of his ankle injury, tossing 64 of his 97 pitches for strikes in his return from the 10-day disabled list. The veteran wasn’t working on any abnormal pitch restriction and he looked better than ever against a high-octane offense.
Youngster Barria will start for Angels
Angels’ manager Mike Scioscia confirmed Friday that Jaime Barria will start on Sunday against the Giants.
