San Diego Padres Fantasy Spin
Eric Hosmer went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer and a pair of runs scored in the Padres’ extra-innings loss to the Nationals. Hosmer belted a three-run homer — his fourth long ball of the season — off Nationals starter Jeremy Hellickson in the third inning. He also doubled and scored in the second and singled in the eighth to record his third three-hit effort of the 2019 campaign. He’s been a major disappointment from a variety of perspectives, hitting .243/.304/.417 with 13 runs scored and 17 RBI in 112 plate appearances. His fantasy value is strictly limited to deeper mixed leagues and NL-Only formats.
Atlanta Braves Fantasy Spin
Ozzie Albies socked a pair of solo homers to power the Braves to a win over the Rockies on Sunday. Albies connected on a 90-mph heater from Rockies starter Tyler Anderson to open the contest — his sixth career leadoff homer — and later followed it up with an opposite-field solo shot in the third inning. He also singled and came around to score on a go-ahead, three-run homer by Josh Donaldson in the eighth. The 22-year-old second baseman has gotten off to a blistering start, hitting .292/.355/.487 with 23 runs scored, five home runs, 10 RBI and three steals in 124 plate appearances.

Prediction:
The best value on the board comes with the Padres’ money line. The Braves have the advantage in the pitching matchup thanks to Mike Soroka, who has excellent walk, groundball and hard-contact rates, but he doesn’t generate a lot of strikeouts and he’s due some regression with a 4.00 SIERA that doesn’t match his 2.97 ERA. The Padres’ team ISO against right-handed pitching is 0.172, which isn’t overly impressive. That said, it is better than the Braves’ 0.152 ISO versus left-handed pitching. There is enough here to take a flier on San Diego, especially considering the Padres have won five of six overall and six of eight on the road.
The Pick: San Diego Padres +145
